~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~ YOU GOTTA READ THIS BOOK!! ~♥~♥~♥~♥~♥~
When Rose reports for Fenton County jury duty she figures she’s lucky to get out of a morning working at the DMV. Instead, despite a disastrous encounter with the new assistant district attorney, Mason Deveraux, she’s picked as a juror on a murder case. As the trial progresses, she realizes an ominous vision she had in the men’s restroom proves the defendant is innocent. And there’s not a cotton picking thing she can do about it. Or is there? As if things weren’t bad enough, Rose’s older sister Violet is going through a mid-life crisis. Violet insists that Rose stop seeing her sexy new boyfriend, Arkansas state detective Joe Simmons, and date other men. Rose is done letting people boss her around, but she can’t commit to Joe either. Still, Rose isn’t about to let the best thing in her life slip away.
~*~*~*~*~*~ The Review ~*~*~*~*~*~
Rose Gardner is at it again. As if getting accused of murder, finding out that her mother is not really her mother, and breaking up an illegal car parts ring wasn’t enough*, Rose has now been assigned to jury duty. Sounds harmless enough, even for a murder trial. And it is…until Rose has another of her visions, this one telling her that the man on trial is innocent. Of course she can’t tell anybody about her sight so she does the next best thing: sets out to prove his innocence.
What happens after that is a hilarious amateur investigation filled with nosy neighbors, a talkative courthouse clerk, and the über-grumpy Assistant District Attorney. Oh, and let’s not forget Rose’s (now) boyfriend, Joe of the Arkansas State Police fame.
I honestly lost count of the times I laughed out loud. I even teared up a time or two, but not from Denise’s fabulous sense of humor. No spoilers, but once-timid Rose has to make some pretty hard decisions concerning her family and her relationship with Joe.
All in all, I loved Twenty-Nine and a Half Reasons. It’s fun, easy to read, and most of all, a perfect weekend getaway for those times when you can’t really get away.
